Builder websites

For builders and renovation firms. Customers see the work you have done and how a job goes, and ask for a quote on the same site.

Oikolauta

Oikolauta is a made-up builder that I made a site for as a sample. The first screen is a house wrapped in site netting with the builder's banner across it, as on a real site. When you scroll, the netting drops and the finished house is left standing.

After that the page is plain and fast: what they build, the sites with their towns, the stages of a job and the quote request.

What 20 builder sites show

Before the sample I went through the front pages of 20 builders and renovation firms in Pirkanmaa, on a laptop and on a phone, as a customer sees them. I noted only what could be seen or measured. I don't name the firms: the point is what repeats.

  • No finished job with its town18/20
  • Claims such as “quality” and “reliable” instead of facts16/20
  • No price, contract type or household tax credit13/20
  • No named person to contact12/20
  • A cookie notice covering 30 % of the screen or more11/20
  • Stock photos or renders instead of their own work7/20
  • The phone number can't be tapped to call5/20
  • A front page over 5 MB4/20

Some examples: a phone link that dials Belgium because of a wrong country code. A button that calls a different number from the one on the page. A front page that loads 68 MB of images. A template's placeholder text left on the page. Many are a few minutes' fix that goes unnoticed, because people rarely open their own site on a phone the way a customer does.

What a builder's site needs

Each of these was on one of the sites, but none had them all:

  • Finished workWhat was done, where and when, like “House, 5 rooms and kitchen, Lempäälä, finished spring 2025”.
  • A phone number that worksAt the top and on the first screen, and tapping it calls the right number.
  • A personA name by the form: who answers and who the job is done with.
  • Price and contractThe contract type, the household tax credit and at least a rough price.
  • A quote form that asks the right thingsIs there a plot, are there drawings, when to start, with photos or drawings attached.
  • Plain wordsWhat you build and in which towns.

Quote requests with photos

A quote request form where customers can attach photos and drawings: €290. The requests come to your email.

What does a builder's website cost?

A website is €1,000, and €1,290 with the quote request form. These are launch prices, valid until 31 December 2026. Upkeep is optional, €19/month.

Every price is on the prices page.
